Alison Forde

I am a painter and makeup artist trying to explore physical and 3D collage. I love to go through thrift stores to see what I can find to incorporate into a new piece. It inspires me. I consider myself to be a self taught artist born and raised in Perkasie, PA.

Treasure Box

This is a box of thrifted finds. Toys, Barbie, retro magazine images show and hide their identity.

Installation/collage

A wooden box filled with vintage dolls, photographs, and memorabilia. The background features a green bulletin board with more black and white and color photos, some with faces marked with red and black drawings. The dolls include a porcelain girl on horseback and a woman in a dress with makeup, along with smaller toys and accessories.

You Plant a Demon Seed, You Raise a Flower of Fire

This painting is inspired by the song “Bullet the Blue Sky” by U2. One of my favorite songs by one of my favorite bands, that is about 40 years old. But I think the lyrics describe America today more than ever before. This painting is the image I get in my head when hearing the lyrics, “You plant a demon seed, you raise a flower of fire. I see them burning crosses, see the flames higher and higher.”

The flowers I wanted to represent the 99%, the big flower the 1% and how watering that flower has caused chaos, death, and destruction here and other countries of the world.
