Headed Into Year Two: Anno Artem Featured in The Mercury
The Mercury’s, Evan Brandt, profiled Anno Artem as we step into our second year—celebrating a scrappy, community-forward experiment that found its rhythm and’ its people.
Anno Artem Turns One: Community-Powered, Artist-Forward, and Proudly Off the Beaten Path
Pottstown showed up for us—and we’re feeling it. As we cross the one-year mark at Anno Artem, we’re thrilled to see our gallery’s mission spotlighted by MONTCO.Today, which captured what makes this little space above the historic station feel so alive: a devotion to contemporary, experimental work and a belief that art should be experienced, not tiptoed around. Mightier than the Sword: A Celebration of Pen & Ink at Anno Artem
Anno Artem presents Mightier than the Sword, a focused exhibition that honors the elemental force of ink on paper. Bringing together Joseph Harkanson, Dave Yasenchak, and John Martin, the show celebrates drawing as both discipline and dare—where a single line can whisper, cut, or carry a story all its own. From meticulous crosshatching to bold, liquid gestures, these works revel in luminous blacks, razor-clean edges, and negative space that invites the eye to do the final editing.
Anno Artem Announces Marginalia
Marginalia highlights work that exists outside traditional modes of exhibition. This group show centers artists whose practices defy easy categorization—featuring installations that shift or flicker, performance that resists choreography, live experiments, ritual, collaborative fragments, text with sound or interference, unfinished pieces, and participatory formats. If a work “doesn't sit comfortably in a white cube or behave on a pedestal,” it belongs here.
Interview with Danielle Kangas: Behind the Scenes of F**k the Patriarchy
To mark the opening of F*k the Patriarchy*, Anno Artem sat down with Co-Owner and COO Danielle Kangas to talk about the inspiration behind the show, the powerful performances and installations, and how this exhibit represents the heart of the gallery’s mission.
A Bold Art Exhibition Challenging the Status Quo
"This exhibition is a direct challenge to patriarchal structures that have long dictated the roles, freedoms, and identities of women. Through art, we reclaim space and amplify voices that have been silenced," said Danielle Kangas, co-owner/COO of Anno Artem Art Gallery.
This Gallery Supports New Norms
Artist, Robert Rauschenberg said “The artist’s job is to be a witness to his time in history.” That philosophy is embraced by Anthony Nowack and Danielle Kangas, founders of the new Anno Artem Gallery and Studios. Located in the historic train station in downtown Pottstown, this cultural resource joins the thriving arts community in the area.
