A exhibition created by Lauren Ariel
(Dis)Appearance is the push and pull of living a double life. The duality of the queer experience is that you are both praised for being yourself while simultaneously expected to still conform to heteronormative society; to be seen, but unseen. Visible, but not witnessed. Praised, but not loved.
Yet, we persist. We create homes, find partners, start families. We love. We remain visible. Each artist invited to participate in this show has work that represents themes of that duality, queer joy and identity, or disappearance in the current political landscape.
Exhibition runs June 11-July 5
