The Fitting
This work centers on the presence of power; how it is constructed, protected, and often left unchallenged. The enlarged portrait becomes both a focal point and a confrontation, surrounded by marks of disruption, redaction, and accusation. Arrows, crossed lines, and fragmented documents point toward a truth that has been repeatedly obscured. For me, resistance in this piece is about refusing passive viewing. It is the act of calling attention to what has been normalized or quietly dismissed. The visual language of redaction is used not to hide, but to expose, to question who controls the narrative and why certain truths are buried. This work holds tension between visibility and denial. It asks the viewer to sit with discomfort and to recognize the systems that allow individuals in positions of power to evade accountability. In doing so, it transforms silence into confrontation.
