Ryan Phillips

Ryan Phillips is a painter currently residing in Ephrata, PA. Everyday life -street scenes and performers, passers-by and landscapes- are cornerstone subjects in his work, which is primarily done in oil and acrylic paints. Images taken from international and road trips throughout the US, provide Phillips with a wealth of the subject matter. The artist has exhibited at Mulberry Galleries and Tellus 360 in Lancaster and at the Collusion Brewery in Lititz. Some paintings hang in restaurants and small businesses in the mid-Atlantic region. He has designed album covers for area band Caulfield’s Radio, in which he is also the bassist, as well as for the Benjamin Vo Blues Band, a Lancaster-based band. He is also a proud member of the Airy Hill Studio.

J.M.W Turner, Winslow Homer and Edward Hopper are among Phillips’ top influences, as is Lancaster artist Dan Graziano. Outside influences include a deep appreciation for music, particularly Delta blues and rock music and literature generally. Phillips primarily paints above his garage in blissful solitude and has a useless bachelor’s degree from Shippensburg University in communication. He lives with his lovely wife Liz and dog and good buddy, Winslow.
