Collage - In this stitched mixed media collage, I was going out on a limb stitching through wallpaper donated by the Sherwin Williams in Pottstown. The nest stitching is more abstract than what my stitched landscapes have been and it is enhanced dimensionally with the addition of twigs and brambles. The bird has claimed the woman, threading twigs around her like a crown and a cage. The sheet music beneath becomes the script of a ceremony she never chose, its tender lines now ominous with a ring awaiting. Her startled gaze is the moment of realization: she has been taken and is trapped. The feather at the edge is his calling card, proof of possession. This is intended to be a parody and it was super fun to create.
