Heather Raquel Phillips (she/they) is an interdisciplinary artist, independent curator, and educator based in Philadelphia. Phillips’ practice is grounded in lens-based methodologies. Working across photography, moving image, text-based textiles, and installation, Phillips critically investigates systems of power as they relate to personal autonomy, sexuality, deviance, and transgression. Pottery - I walk around my house, asking myself what we need and how can I make it out of clay. I like to challenge myself with making larger functional pieces, but nobody wants a 5lb coffee mug.
