No Ice, No Character

As a kid, I rather enjoyed going to the drive in movie theater to see the Disney classics. As I got older, Disney seemed more of a monopolistic money machine, eating up everyone and everything, all of it hiding behind the face of the happy mouse. To me it is all just a guise, sell as many hats with ears to every man, woman and infant that is humanly possible. In today's world I see the similarity, in the guise of this fascist regime, that pretends to be a shining example of patriotism. It's all just a giant front passed off to the blissfully ignorant as something admirable and just. A happy mouse whose soul was sold for the promise of money.

War On Bad Freakish Role Models

The propaganda of the Far right extremists is not just harmful to some, but to most of society in general. Brainwashing is easier to do to the un- or mis-informed. It's our job to battle this kind of division to speak up to the youth, and say this is NOT acceptable. It is unbecoming of a "authority " or " leadership". Respect and admiration are things to be earned, not to be stolen or insistent. You can sleep on your piles of money, but don't sleep on the power of unity.

Bloodied But Unbowed

I sat at the intersection a mile from home on a dreary November morning. The election day debacle was fresh. I peered up at the traffic lights. They seemed to glare down at me like the eyes of disapproval, like the eyes of the powers that be denying us all the validity of being free thinking individuals. The green lights represent the forward thinking, taking a beating but never bowing.
